Name of Bird Species: Lapland Longspur and American Pipit

Comments: Aija spotted, and Ed photographed, a rare Lapland Longspur on North Beach. Very few of these birds are sighted in South Carolina, so this was an exciting find. The Lapland Longspur was with two American Pipits, which are also not often seen on our beach. It was a terrific day of birding overall on Seabrook Island. Hooded Merganser on Heather Island Road on Jenkins Point, and Wood Storks in the Firestation marsh. And on the beach Dunlin (over 700!), Semi-palmated Plover, Least Sandpiper, Western Sandpiper, Black-bellied Plover, Marbled Godwit, Red Knot, Bufflehead, Bald Eagle, Osprey.
